You know a place is a "hidden gem" when they don't even have a sign. Lima 51 is either patiently waiting for that sign to arrive, or couldn't care less because they are busy without it. It's a fresh clean white with green accented place. No tablecloth and paper napkins - but just wait, and you will enjoy some serious Peruvian cuisine. The menu is extensive, with ceviche in many many varieties, there are soups, and traditional entrees, house made desserts too. We enjoyed the trio of ceviche with jalea - wow... this is enough for 3 people! 3 martini glasses FILLED with 3 varieties of ceviche (original lime based, yellow pepper, and roccoto - which is slightly creamy and pink) - all were fantastic! Nestled below the 3 glasses was a mountain of fried mixed seafood with the traditional fried corn and large tender corn sides. We also had grilled octopus.... it was so incredibly tender, and seasoned perfectly... a tad spicy, savory, and complex... we cleaned that plate! I look forward to the next visit to try some other dishes. Call ahead - make sure they are open, and find out what time the kitchen will be closing to ensure you have a great meal.

We really like the food we try different types of ceviche's and causas, the dessert with chirimoya was really taste, since they prepare everything at the moment average waiting time is 27 minutes after you place your order.

Came in thinking this place would be amazing from all the reviews. Order a appetizer it took more then 30min and when our food came out I almost lost a tooth because the rice was wayyyyy over cooked I'm so unhappy I decided to just send the food back and leave. FIRST AND LAST TIME HERE not worth $25 at all

Amazing food. I recently moved into town and have been looking for a great Peruvian place. This hit perfection. Perfect for a couples date. The service was excellent. The food was beyond belief. The price is right for the quality. The only thing was that it is a little hidden in a plaza, so you have to pay attention. Other than that, it is superb.

this is my son's, bf's and my personal favorite peruvian restaurant around me. love their variety of ceviches, the jalea, the aji de gallina and my favorite appetizer , the shrimp causa. deff recommend this restaurant, if you know about peruvian gastronomy.fz.

AMAZING! I pretty much made a Yelp account just to review my experience here. First off, service was fantastic! My boyfriend and I were first timers and our waiter, in his 20s like us, was super patient and extremely helpful. He answered all of our questions, was very attentive, gave reccomendations and even let us sample some things before we ordered. I'm not one for seafood, so I didn't come for the ceviche, but I split the lomo saltado with my bf and it was the best I've ever had. Delicious, cooked well and they use filet mignion. It's small and was slow bc we went at an off time, but such great food and great service. I plan on being back very soon. One tip, it's hard to find because there is still a "Don Pollo" sign you can faintly read above it.

Great ceviche and service!!! Loved the ceviche trilogy. However from my last visit the prices have gone up way too much...even cviche 105 in downtown miami which technically started the peruvian food movement is more affordable and same or better tasting.

I think i would have like it more had I not made the mistake of paying the extra $3 a ceviche for "mixed". Essentially $14 for some fish ( which was good) and then huge inedible pieces of previously frozen tire like consistency calamari and huge rubbery octopus. The octopus and calamari are really not good or fair to serve at that price point. Especially when you fill the bowl with 60-70% of them. They ruined the meal. If i stayed w/ only fish I would have been happier. The menu was really terribly written. Im sure if i was peruvian or spanish it would be fine, but i dont speak spanish and the menu does not elaborate on anything. Its hard to follow and overly complicated. The waiter did not seem to know how to properly explain the differences in the ceviches. However he did know how to include tip in the check. Which was fine by me b/c i always tip 20%+ when i calculate it. I would order the traditional ceviche again w/ only fish. It was good. I would not order the other versions, they were really disappointing.

Situated at the end of a strip mall, the restaurant has nice decor and atmosphere. Ceviche was very good and I'd definitely recommend. Great flavor. Aji de gallina was good. Tallarines verdes with filet mignon was not that good as the steak had little flavor and a couple bites tasted like liver. This might be due to the choice of meat. A churrasco may be a better choice with more fat and flavor and be less pricey. Service was good. I'd come back for ceviche.

They need more Air Conditioning... I feel bad, but they do, it was too hot in here to be enjoyable...especially when one is drinking Sangria. So, dress light when you head here. That's minus one star. The other star depletion comes from their menu, being a gringa I don't speak or understand much Spanish, their menu was designed for native Spanish speakers. I had a hard time deciphering what it meant, what was in it, what I should order. I landed up - for lack of not really knowing anything else ordering Arroz con Pollo. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche appie... it was good, it was not the way to go.. the way to go is to order the sampler, you get so much more BANG for your BUCK here. Food came, it was tasty, not so tasty that I'm craving it or planning my next visit there, but it was good. I don't really need to go back...

Lima 51, named after the capital of Peru's zip code is perhaps one of the best Peruvian gourmet-fusion restaurants in Broward. This location is truly a hidden gem and you will not find any signs on the streets pointing you in the right direction so trust your GPS. If you see a McDonalds you are nearby! I was introduced to this fine location by my father some time back and I keep coming back to it. So you might be asking yourself what I meant by fusion cuisine. In Peru there is a very diverse culture population. "Peruvian Fusion" seems to be the latest craze. This is when they mix traditional Peruvian dishes and elevate its flavors by combining them with Japanese influenced techniques and flavors. So yea, mix Peruvian/Japanese food together? Sounds like a party in your mouth! As soon as you walk in you are always greeted by friendly staff. The restaurant is not too big but not too small either. It is nicely decorated in vibrant white and lime green, very clean establishment. Under the direction of Chef Luis Robles, this establishment has gotten notoriety among Peruvians like wildfire. The Chef is very friendly and interacts with the guests at the table. If time allows he will sit down with you and talk about Peruvian culinary history. The place gets pretty pact for the dinner rush. As soon as you are sit down they bring you "cancha" which is a traditional snack/appetizer to Peruvians. This tradition replaces bringing bread to the table in Peru. I also ordered a Pisco Sour and a Sangria to drink. Both drinks were served in a generous size cup and delicious! For appetizer I had the Trilogy. This is that famous dish everyone orders here that happens to be off the menu. This is like a ceviche sampler of sorts. The trilogy is served with a variety of three different ceviches in a martini glass. You have your well known classic ceviche which is lime based. There is the Aji Amarillo made with a yellow pepper base and Ceviche de Rocoto which is made with red peppers and pink in color. On the base of the cups you have Jalea (pronounced HA-LEA). This is another famous dish from Peru which is just fried shell fish. You can order just fish only if you are not brave to try the octopus, squid, mussels and scallops. Another appetizer I tried are the Anticuchos. This is another well known appetizer in Peru made by putting beef heart on skewers and then grilling them. Sounds weird however it is delicious, very tender and not gamy at all. You kind of have to man up and just go for it if you have never had it. Its served with peruvian corn and sauted potatoes. The garnish is a little flame which was a pretty cool touch. For entrees we had Lomo Saltado. Your basic sauteed onions, tomatoes, beef, frenchfries and rice. We had Tallarines Verde con Bistec. This is a basil-cheese based spaghetti sauce with either steak or skit steak on the side. The third item we have tried is Arroz con Pollo. This is the peruvian style "chicken and rice". Yes the rice is green because it is seasoned in parsley and cilantro. All dishes tasted really good and the portions were more than generous. The flavors were spot on and true to Peruvian cuisine. Maybe the entrees were not as adventurous in nature as the appetizers we ordered, however we wanted to have a mix of both. Something new and something old. So there you have it, Lima 51 Ceviche Bar. If you have not gone there and you like Peruvian food go there ASAP. Do not be afraid to try new things as most Peruvian places wont have these dishes. Also do not be afraid to talk to the waitress about customizing your order. They are pretty good about including or excluding different ingredients. For example our trilogy we wanted fish only but the Jalea we got the assorted shellfish.

First time at this restaurant. It was my sister's birthday and she wanted Ceviche. It has a very Grecian feel to it, all white and blue and teal. It is small, located at a strip mall where most suites seem to be unoccupied. For the location, it was a bit pricy. I have been to nicer Peruvian restaurants at this same price point or even a little cheaper. We were a party of five, the only table available I sat four, but we were willing to take it. The waiter told us that another, bigger table was just about to become avaliable and that we could wait. We did, 15 minutes later the table was still occupied and it didn't seem like the guest were going anywhere. They had phones, and iPads out and the whole shebang. The waiter never went outside to tell us we should just take the smaller table. No big deal, we went in a sat ourselves (luckily it was still empty) it took the waiter 10 minutes to take out drink order, then it took him another 10 minutes to realize he didn't bring menus. (We had been looking at take out menus we got by the entrance so he took them back) then another chunk of time to bring the drinks, then another 10 minutes to take our order. You'd think we would have left by now, but we'd invested so much time in this place already. From the time we got there to the time we got our food it was over an hour, about an hour and a half. Mind you the place is small, and after we came in people started leaving so only a few tables were occupied. I was beyond frustrated. At one point I told the waiter that if the food didn't come out soon to bring the check for our drinks and call it a day, he swore it'd be soon, but at least another ten minutes went by. We ordered appetizers and entrees at the same time, and apart from the kids food, everything came out together. We had appetizers and entrees at the same time. I think they have a small cooking staff and they were taking care of "called in" orders first (I saw at least three) and another table that seemed to be ordering everything on the menu. Food was great when we finally got it, but they lost a customer in me just based on how long I had to wait for my food. They must have heard me complaining because at the end, the waiter thanked us for our patience. I'm giving this place three stars because the food was good, and our waiter was nice, it just took so very long!

Seriously the super hidden gem of CS! You don't even see this place when you pull in bc of the tress in the strip mall. It's super clean and nice inside and friendly. The lomo saltado was great and a lunch option for super cheap with an appetizer. My ceviche was so fresh and wonderful. It was the Amarillo ceviche de pescado/fish. Great prices and food here! I came here with 2 girlfriends who vouched for it. Its in a location I never thought to look. Inside everything is lime green with white. Plates coming out all looked fabulous. Lots I wanted to try. Having eaten a lot of times at Ceviche 105 in Downtown Miami, my expectations were sorta high. I ordered the basic ceviche. The fish was fresh, not too spicy but I don't usually eat salt so I thought it was slightly salty...but still delicious. Service was A-Ok. Nothing to fret over. My other friend also got ceviche and another the fish in fish sauce. This was 3pm on a Sunday and the place was half full. Not bad for a late lunch crowd. Overall I think I will definitely come back or at least order out since they have lots of yummy thing on the menu.

Food in this place is very good, the service was the worst i ever had, i had to get up after siting for a good 15 minutes waiting for someone to ask if we wanted something to drink, than we waited a good 30 minutes to get the appetizer, when it finally comes i have to get up once again to get silverware. Once again the food is good! To bad the service was so poor.

I dated a peruvian girl a while ago and she got me hooked on ceviche. I came across lima 51 after seeing a friend shared lthem on facebook. This is not your typical peruvian restaurant the design and decor is open and bright. They have a nice little bar for some Pizco sour. I ordered their ceviche sampler it came with 3 different ceviches in some fancy looking cocktail glasses . they were garnished with some fried calamari corn and kernels. This ceviche was amazing! so fresh and so much flavor! I do have to admit that the menu is not so gringo friendly so i ordered the other only thing i know which is lomo saltado and it was also very good! overall the place is great i went on a weekday so it was pretty empty and the service was very fast! The price is very affordable and the presentation of the food is really special.
Loved it. Cozy restaurant. Love the interaction by the Chef! and the food is AWESOME!! A must EAT!! The Trio Ceviche is incredible., delicious! will be back. Highly recommend.

ALERT: A new amazing Peruvian ceviche establishment that is simply fantastic is now in Coral Springs. We were seated promptly and brought a small dish of "Cancha" - it's toasted Maize Chulpe Corn that is lightly salted that was bursting with flavor. They are slightly puffy when toasted, just like corn nuts, and it has a starchy crunchy taste that is quite addictive and usually served with a ceviche . The starter was: ~ "Pulpito A la Parrilla" ~ It was one of the best dishes that I have had. it was an octopus marinated in special Peruvian spices and grilled to perfection. It was incredibly tender, and seasoned perfectly ... i had it a tad spicy and i can describe it as savory, and complex. The Entrée: ~ "The Trilogy" ~ a variety of three different ceviche's each served in a martini glass ~ a "Traditional" lime based, "Aji Amarillo" Peruvian Yellow Pepper), and "Ceviche de Rocoto", which is slightly creamy and pink. We selected to have it all in fresh fish, which I found very refreshing. On the bottom of the presentation plate there was a a variety of deep fried fish, mussels, squid and octopus. A house made dessert: ~ "Tramisu du Lucuma" ~ made from a subtropical fruit native to the Andean valleys of Peru that was excellent. Lima 51 Ceviche Bar is a definite "bookmark" on your Yelp! list of establishments to visit. Cheers!

This place is so good I drove from fort luaderdale to order their special ceviche dish. It's by far my favorite Peruvian restaurant in Florida.
